Men of matter

For Tahiche by Juan Pedro Castañeda

There are men who imagine, work with the pious hands of the craftsman, eat apples and play at dying.

When they meditate they tend to isolate themselves according to laws that are neither strict, nor previously written by those who are like them.

They build according to transformable concepts. They ally with mobility. They call into question the perfect sphere. They separate parallels, break circles...

They can be seen in the lines of time, in fertile fields, among structures, frameworks, hearts, tools and weapons.

They believe they are allowed, besides reaching the impenetrable, to build mechanisms whose purpose is not to achieve the glory of the perpetual and immutable thing.

They dance beside the clock, they celebrate matter...

Let it be for good; and reasonable. Do they truncate cones? Do they destroy pyramids? If they break molds or manipulate forms, may they obtain fragments to add to the constructive endeavor.
